Overview​

Surge Pricing is a powerful feature within Yelowsoft’s pricing system, designed to dynamically increase fare rates during high-demand periods. This helps ensure better driver availability, maximizes revenue, and improves customer service during peak times.

Accessing Surge Pricing​

To manage Surge Pricing:

  1. Log in to the Admin Panel.
  2. From the left-hand menu, navigate to Pricing.
  3. Click on Surge Pricing.

Here, you can view all existing Surge Pricing rules, including:

  • Surge Name
  • Applicable Dates & Days
  • Vehicle Type
  • Surge Duration (Start/End Time)
  • Surge Value (Flat or Multiplier)
  • Status and available actions (Edit/Delete)

How to Create Surge Pricing​

Click on Create Surge and follow the steps below:

1. Select Timing​

  • Define Start Time and End Time (e.g., 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM).
  • Choose Days (e.g., Monday to Friday) or select a specific Date Range (ideal for holidays or events).

2. Define Surge Type​

  • Apply by Location (e.g., Airports, Business Hubs, Railway Stations).
  • Set Surge Type:
    • Flat Increase (e.g., additional $5 on base fare)
    • Multiplier (e.g., 1.5× on trip fare)

3. Select Vehicle Type​

  • Assign Surge to one or multiple vehicle types (e.g., Sedan, SUV).

How It Works in Real Time​

  • When a user makes a trip request within the defined zone, time, and vehicle type, the surge price is automatically calculated and applied.
  • Surge Pricing will override the base fare and reflect the increased fare directly on the user's app before booking.
  • If multiplier-based:
    Fare = Base Fare × Surge Multiplier (e.g., $100 × 1.5 = $150).
